    Here’s a list of some fun things going on this week in the 417!

     

    1. Bass Pro Tournament of Champions (1/11- 1/13):

      • The 34th Annual Bass Pro Tournament of Champions tips off this Thursday 1/11 at 5pm.
      • The TOC is the #1 attended High School Basketball tournament in the nation, and has featured over 350 players that have gone on to play NCAA D1 basketball, as well as over 60 players who have gone on to play in the NBA.
      • Each year, the TOC features 2 local teams. This year Ozark and Glendale will represent the 417 in the tournament.
      • This is a great opportunity to watch some of the nation’s top basketball players before they move on to play college and professional ball.  For more information visit the official website
    2. Cardinals Caravan (1/12):

      • Are you or someone you know a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals? Well, they’re making their way to Springfield this week!
      • When and where? This Friday, January 12, at the Hammon’s Field Indoor Training Facility at 12:15pm (Doors will open at 11:30am).
      • This year’s featured players will be: Greg Garcia, Alex Mejia, John Gant, Tom Lawless, and Kyle McClellan, along with KMOX Sports Director Tom Ackerman as the emcee.
      • Lunch will be available for purchase at the event.
      • Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids ages 3-12. All proceeds will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network. For more information visit the website here.
    3. The Sound of Music at Juanita K. Hammon’s Hall (1/9- 1/11):

      • Don’t miss your opportunity to go see the Sound of Music this week at Juanita K. Hammon’s Hall!
      • Performances begin on Tuesday, January 9th and go until Thursday, January 11th. All beginning at 7:30pm.

    4. The Mystery Hour Live Taping (1/13):

      • The Mystery Hour began in the original basement theatre of the Skinny Improv as a fake TV show, but after gaining popularity it became an actual TV show.
      • With 3 Emmy wins, syndication on multiple Fox networks, and live audiences of 700+ people this is one event you’ll want to check out.
      • You have the opportunity to be apart of The Mystery Hour’s live audience this Saturday (1/13) at 7:30pm.
      • This weeks guests are:
        • Eliza Skinner: Writer for the Late Late Show with James Corden, Drop the Mic, Adam Ruins Everything, and she’s a standup comedian.
        • David Wilson: co-creator of True/False.
        • Mark Steiner: owner of GigSalad, a website for booking entertainers.
        • Tickets cost $12 each, and are general admission seating meaning you’ll want to get there early so you get a good seat!

    5. Metropolitan Bride, Springfield Bridal Expo (1/14):

      • Getting married in the near future? Don’t miss out on the Springfield Bridal Expo this Sunday from 11am-4pm.
      • Admission is $5
      • Meet local wedding merchants who will help you plan your dream wedding.
      • Taste some amazing wedding cakes, view and book gorgeous venues, meet talented photographers, and create the wedding you’ve always dreamed of!

    6. Ruby’s Lil Chefs (1/13):

      • Do you have a budding little chef at home? Bring them to Ruby’s this Saturday from 11am-12pm or from 1-2pm for a cooking class designed just for kids!
      • Cost is $7 a child. Ages 5-10 are welcome.
