    Springfield Symphony: African-American Heritage

    In honor of African-American History Month, the Springfield Symphony is excited to present the Afro-American Symphony by William Grant Still. Still was the first African-American to have a symphony performed by a major symphony orchestra and the first to conduct a major orchestra. In the Afro-American Symphony, Still combines blues, jazz, and spirituals into a traditional classical form, and it is instantly appealing and fresh. We will also play Gershwin’s jazzy Porgy and Bess, and welcome Todd Payne back to our stage to sing spirituals and present his very moving interpretation of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s, I Have a Dream speech.

    Springfield Ultimate Cave Tour

    February 24th-25th | $ 15
    A half day of adventure and caving around the Springfield area. Hike to the outside of the caves at Ritter Springs Park, walk through Giboney Cave at Doling Park, and take a boat through Sequiota Cave at Sequiota Park. Transportation and gear is provided. Based on the novel by E.L Doctorow, the Tony Award and Drama Desk Award-winning Ragtime weaves together the story of three groups in America, represented by Coalhouse Walker Jr, a Harlem musician; Mother and her white, middle class family in New Rochelle; and Tateh,
    a Jewish immigrant who has come to America with his daughter seeking a new life.

    Feel the love by making beautiful hand-iced Valentines cookies! We’ll roll out and bake delicious sugar cookies, learn about working with royal icing, and let our creativity run wild as we decorate edible valentines for the people we love! Once the icing is dry (the next day), you’ll be able to take home your cookies, and they’ll keep till Valentine’s Day (unless you eat them first)! This is a great class to take with someone you love! Ages 9+, under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

    Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding

    A SPRINGFIELD LITTLE THEATRE SPECIAL EVENT. One of the longest running shows in off Broadway history, Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding is one-of-a-kind entertainment – an immersive comedy show staged as an evening of nuptials. Together with their Italian-American families, Tony Nunzio and Valentina Vitale cordially request the honor of your presence to celebrate their holy matrimony at The Old Glass Place. Audience members are treated as welcomed guests by the interactive, improvising cast.
