Habitat for Humanity
One amazing thing about the Springfield area is the large amount of organizations and groups dedicated to helping others and giving back to the community. This week we had the opportunity to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity here in Springfield, and we had an amazing time!
Habitat for Humanity strives to help homeowners achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. They believe that every person in Springfield and the surrounding areas deserves to have a safe and affordable place to live. The Springfield affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International opened in 1988 and has either built or renovated 570+ homes since then, impacting over 110 households per year, and providing shelter for more than 1,100 men, women, and children from Greene, Christian, and Webster Counties in SWMO.
There are several ways that you can get involved with Habitat for Humanity Springfield!
1. Make a Donation
If you visit their website you will find a donation tab, allowing you to give anywhere from $1 to $20,000+ any amount helps them with their mission!
Habitat for Humanity Springfield hosts annual fundraising events a year which allows community members and sponsors to contribute to their efforts of helping homeowners achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. Proceeds from these events do go towards their mission.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to help build and repair homes within the community and help revitalize neighborhoods.
During our volunteer opportunity with Habitat for Humanity we were actually at a build site. We had the opportunity to help paint one of the homes! We had an absolute blast, and would recommend this to anyone looking to get involved!
